Wings floop when resting

When butterflies are at rest, their wings tend to point upward, while moths at rest tend to splay their wings.

Fun Moth Facts

The collective name for butterflies and moths is lepidopterans.
The reason moths are floofy might be to conserve heat during cold nights.
"Moth" in French is "papillon de nuit", which means "butterfly of the night". This makes moths sound like cooler butterflies.
